Our Councils

The Parish Council arose in Catholic parishes following the Second Vatican Council’s Decree on the Apostolate of Lay People (Apostolicam actuositatem, par. 26) of 1965.   The Diocese of San Jose also mandates the use of parish councils.  The Parish Council is the pastor’s chief advisory body.  St. Frances Cabrini’s Parish Council has representatives from the main parish organizations as well as two elected at-large members and one appointee by the pastor.  Cabrini has a very active council that both advises the pastor and assists in running many parish initiatives:  The Village House homeless shelter being a notable example.

In addition to Pastor Father Michael Hendrickson (frhendrickson@sfcabrini.org)  and Parochial Vicar Father Gabriel Lee (frlee@sfcabrini.org), the 2018 – 2019 Parish Council members include these individuals (along with a list of their current Parish activities):

Finance Committee

The Parish Finance Committee meets quarterly to advise the pastor on financial matters and ensures that the parish follows the financial and money-handling policies set by the Diocese of San Jose.  Committee members serve renewable three year terms.  Parishioners who are interested in becoming members of the committee or attending a meeting should contact the pastor.  SFC School has a separate School Finance Committee with the same responsibilities.  That committee reports to the pastor, school principal, and School Advisory Committee.

2018-2019 Committee Members

Current members of the Finance Committee include Fr. Michael Hendrickson (Pastor) and the Parish Finance Council – Sean Cook (Chair), Tim Smith, Carlo Pedron, Jennifer Nickolas and Renee Rodriguez.
