Men’s Club Produces Extraordinary Results

The St. Frances Cabrini Men’s Club is an organization established for the purpose of enhancing the community of St. Frances Parish. The organization exists to develop a men’s community within the Parish by providing opportunities for spiritual and personal growth, social interaction, and service outreach to the St. Frances Church Parish community.

Events

The Men’s Club meets the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in Essig Hall year round. Each meeting features dinner, refreshments and a meeting presentation on past and upcoming events. All men of the parish are invited. There is no monthly cost to individuals but we offer up raffle tickets and prizes for sale to cover these expenses.  The annual membership fee is currently $10 for everyone.  If you have a child currently attending St. Frances Cabrini, your dues are included with your tuition.

Join our “no obligation” email list

The best way to keep in touch with Men’s Club events is to join our email list.  This list is private to the Men’s Club and is used exclusively to communicate Men’s Club activities including events, volunteer opportunities, or parish-related news that we feel may be of interest to the members.

The Men’s Club is a group of ordinary men who, with our variety of life experiences and talents, come together to produce extraordinary results for the church, the school and the local community. You’ll fit right in with experiences that you can share.

Join us as we get together to socialize, get the latest updates on parish events, Bingo, upcoming social gatherings, fundraisers, and other parish activities.

Socializing in the Gym begins at 6:00 PM.

Voluntary Rosary, led by Lee Campbell is said in the church at 6:30 PM.

Dinner is served at 7:00 PM.

The SFC Men’s Club meets the 2nd Monday every month in Essig Hall. Good food and good company! If you are new parent here you already belong and we welcome you to join us!

Christmas Toy and Food Drive Set for December 14

For over 30 years, the community of St. Frances Cabrini has sponsored the Holiday Food and Toy Drive, to support those less fortunate in our community. For the past decade, this event has been sponsored by the SFC Men’s Club, Italian Catholic Federation Branch 191, and the Mexican Catholic Organization.

We continue with our annual Holiday Food and Toy Drive at St. Frances Cabrini. The distribution date for the Christmas Food and Toy drive is Saturday December 14th, in the SFC Gym.

At our Christmas event, we will again serve the same number of families at SFC, Christ the King, and Star of the Sea Churches. Additionally, we provide toys and gifts to children ages 3 to 13 from the SFC and Cambrian Park community. Donations of food and toys can again be placed in the Holiday food boxes in the vestibule of the Church, or can be brought to the SFC gym on Saturday the 14th.

If you want to volunteer, please come to the gym beginning at 7:30 AM, and we are usually done with the distribution by 11:00 AM.

If you can support this effort financially, make checks payable to SFC Men’s Club, and make a note on the check, “ Holiday Food Drive”. Please forward these to the parish office.

Below is a list of the food items we request. While we still need turkeys, we do see an increased request for hams for our SFC community. Needed items are: tuna, peanut butter, jelly, pasta, pasta sauce, mac and cheese, soup, canned fruit, canned vegetables, cereal, packaged mashed potatoes, gravy, packaged rice/noodles, canned or packaged beans, turkeys, and hams. Check the dates on your packages; we cannot accept out-of-date food. We would appreciate turkeys and hams being donated the day of the distributions due to limited storage in our freezers and refrigerators.

Thank you! If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact John Dahl at 408-807-5756, or jkdassociates@gmail.com.

Men’s Club, ICF 191 and MCO Team Up Once Again for Holidays

For over 30 years, the community of St. Frances Cabrini has sponsored the Holiday Food and Toy Drive, to support those less fortunate in our community. For the past decade, this event has been sponsored by the SFC Men’s Club, Italian Catholic Federation Branch 191, and the Mexican Catholic Organization.

We ask you to join us in supporting this annual cause. The date for the Thanksgiving Distribution will be Saturday, November 23rd. The date for the Christmas distribution will be Saturday, December 14th.

As has been the case for the past several years, we will not only be assisting those in the Cambrian Park area, but the communities of Christ the King Church Parish in central San Jose, and Star of the Sea Parish in Alviso.

It is our goal to provide 300 meals for these three communities during Thanksgiving and Christmas in 2019.

In addition, we provide toys for the SFC community at the Christmas distribution. More information on that will be provided in bulletins beginning in December.

There are three ways you can support this ministry.

First: financially. If you want to make a financial donation, please make Checks payable to “ SFC MEN’S CLUB”, and make a notation on the check or envelope that this is for the “HOLIDAY FOOD DRIVE.” Please forward checks to the parish office. There is no overhead for this event, all efforts are handled by volunteers, so every cent goes to those in need.

Second: Volunteering. We love to have volunteers come the days of the distribution. We meet in the SFC gym around 7:30 AM, sort the food, box it, and begin distribution by 9:30 AM. We usually finish up around 11:30 to noon. Families and kids are encouraged to join us.

Third: Food items. We attempt to provide a turkey or ham to all 300 recipients, as well as a box of food which includes as
many staples as possible.

Here is a list of needed items:
tuna, peanut butter, jelly, pasta, pasta sauce, mac and cheese, soup, canned fruit, canned vegetables, cereal, packaged
mashed potatoes, gravy, packaged rice/noodles, canned or packaged beans, turkeys, and hams.

Holiday Boxes will be placed in the vestibule of the Church for your donations.

We also need turkeys and hams for these days. We would appreciate those items being donated the day of the distributions due to limited storage in our freezers and refrigerators.

Additionally we do take donations of used clothing. We would ask again due to limited storage space that used clothing be
brought the day of the distribution. We will not be taking used items or used toys, only used clothing this year.

If you need to get turkeys, hams or used clothing to us prior to the distribution date, or if you have any questions or need
additional information, please contact John Dahl at 408-807-5756, or jkdassociates@gmail.com.
