Catechetical

Have you ever thought of becoming a Catechist?

Are you looking for another way to share your love for Jesus by becoming a volunteer catechist? We still need catechists and catechist aides for our Catechetical Formation, Mentors, and Youth Leaders for Youth Ministry Programs.
If your baptism calls you to share in a ministry that Jesus started,
you believe that our children are the present and future of our Church,
you love sharing your faith and want to grow together with children in our community,
Then join our Catechetical and Youth Ministry!
You will have opportunities to attend courses and training from the Diocese and learn about teaching techniques from other catechists while growing virtues and knowledge of Catholic teachings.
To be a catechist, you must:
  • Have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.
  • Complete the proper background screening, and clear the criminal history check before engaging in ministry.
  • Complete the appropriate Diocesan Safe Environment Training.
  • Intend to complete the Introduction to Catechetical Ministry course offered by the Diocese of San Jose.
  • Be available for 1.5 hours weekly.
Training and guidance will be provided.
Catechetical sessions will be held on Wednesdays from 5:00 PM – 6:15 PM. The first session is on September 21, 2022.

For more information, please contact Merry Kaelani, Catechetical and Youth Ministry Coordinator at merry.kaelani@dsj.org or (408) 879-1120 ext. 14.

Thank you for considering sharing your faith with families in our community!
