Get Involved!
St. Frances Cabrini Parish has many ways you can get involved with the Church through the following ministries:
- Altar Server Ministry – Altar servers assist our priests at the celebration of the Eucharist. The commitment involves serving at the Altar of God at weekend Masses and/or some weekday Masses, Holy Days of Obligation, funerals, and weddings.
- Bible Study – The ministry meets to read, reflect, and share the word of God. The ministry meets on Tuesday mornings from 10:45 AM. to 12:00 PM in the Parish Center.
- Building and Maintenance – This ministry advises and assists the pastor in all matters pertaining to the upkeep, repair, replacement, and maintenance of all parish facilities and property.
- Catechetical – Share the Catholic Faith as a teacher and become a Catechist.
- Catechetical Formation – The St. Frances Cabrini Parish Department of Religious Education (also referred to as the “Catechetical Ministry”), facilitates the lifelong process of deepening our Catholic Faith.
- Children’s Ministry – This ministry helps in leading the parish Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW). This ministry organizes and leads the parish’s weekly children liturgy at the 9:30 AM Mass on Sundays.
- Church Art & Environment – This ministry creates an atmosphere within the liturgical and worship space that invites and inspires everyone in the church to participate actively and fully.
- Counting Ministry – Ensures that offertory collections are properly safeguarded, counted, deposited, and recorded. All collections are processed and deposited following the procedures mandated by the Diocese of San Jose.
- Eucharistic “Lay” Ministry – These parishioners assist at Mass with distributing the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass. They also help to bring Communion to our homebound. Training is required
- Evangelization Ministry – This ministry helps each parishioner fully embrace and live out the parish’s mission: to worship God, love others, make disciples, and educate the young. The ministry also explores and implements different programs to help each parishioner become a missionary disciple.
- Funerals – We help family members plan a liturgical celebration in our Church that will be a commemoration of the loved one’s earthly life and a proclamation of their entrance into eternal life.
- History and Archives – The mission of this ministry is to identify, collect, preserve, organize, and share rich historical records of our parish to promote the legacy of faith and Christian witnesses through the years.
- Hospital and Homebound Ministry – This ministry takes care of the pastoral and sacramental care of our sick, homebound, and hospitalized parishioners. It offers spiritual support and visitation by bringing Holy Communion to our parish family who are sick and homebound and unable to join us in the Eucharistic celebration especially on Sunday.
- Hospitality Ministry – The mission of this ministry is to provide and promote a welcoming environment of love, acceptance, support, and comfort within the parish community, hosting periodic events to create opportunities for parishioners to share fellowship and socialize after Mass and other occasions.
- Information & Technology (IT) – The mission of this ministry is to make the missionary disciples of Christ through proper communication and available technology to create a written and audio- visual presence in the parish liturgical celebrations and other parish gatherings.
- Intercessory Prayer Group Ministry – The members of this ministry meet together to pray for the individual intentions of the parishioners and parish.
- Ladies League Ministry – The mission of this ministry is to support all women in the parish and school communities to grow in faith and to witness the love of God through ministry, social activities, community service projects, funding activities, and faith formation programs.
- Lector Ministry – This ministry encourages parishioners to participate in proclaiming the Word of God at all regular and special Masses. The lector proclaims the readings from Sacred Scripture, with the exception of the Gospel, and announces the intentions for the Prayer of the Faithful and the opening and closing announcements.
- Liturgy Ministry – This ministry plans liturgies that are spirit-filled, which promote the active and full participation of the parishioners in the liturgical celebrations. The members discuss, plan, prepare, and evaluate the liturgies of SFC.
- Marriage Enrichment / Date Night – Date Night is a ministry for Engaged and Married Couples at SFC offering monthly opportunities for Fellowship, Formation and Enrichment.
- Men’s Club Ministry – This ministry seeks to develop a men’s community within the Parish by providing opportunities for spiritual and personal growth, social interaction, and service outreach to SFC community. The Men’s Club meets year-round on second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in Essig Hall.
- Music and Choir Ministry – This ministry encourages the parishioners to use their talents of singing and playing musical instruments to create an uplifting worship space during liturgical celebrations.
- Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) – RCIA is the post Vatican II restoration of an ancient process that invites adults who are not Catholic to discover Jesus Christ and be fully joined to the Catholic Church.
- Rite of Christian Initiation Adapted for Children (RCIC) – RCIC is an adapted process for unbaptized children over the age of 7 to discover Jesus Christ and prepare for the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and First Eucharist to be fully joined to the Catholic Church.
- Sacristy Ministry – This ministry takes care of our sacristy. including the liturgical books, sacred vessels, and liturgical vestments. The ministry works with the priests to ensure that everything needed for the parish liturgical celebration is well-prepared and ready for each celebration.
- Social and Outreach Ministry – The mission of this ministry is faith in action by promoting ministries to persons who are in need and following in the footsteps of St. Frances Cabrini, the parish patroness. The ministry manages the SFC Food Pantry, which serves SFC parishioners and local families in our Cambrian area. Box of groceries are distributed every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month in the Parish Center living room.
- Stewardship Ministry – Led by Pedro Guerra, the mission of this ministry is to foster and promote stewardship as a way of life for all parishioners by sharing their gifts of time, talent, and treasure as missionary disciples of Christ.
- Ushers and Greeters – This ministry is a key aspect of hospitality at our parish. Ushers & Greeters greet people before Mass, help them find seating, take up the Offertory Collection, and distribute bulletins after Mass.
- Young Adult Ministry – Coming soon, our SFC young adult faith-sharing program for ages 18 to 34.
- Youth Ministry – Youth ministry is a group for high school teens and their friends to come for fellowship and to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Our goal is to empower the youth of our parish to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today.
