Choirs Nourish Faith Through Song

According to the CONSTITUTION ON THE SACRED LITURGY SACROSANCTUM CONCILIUM SOLEMNLY PROMULGATED BY HIS HOLINESS POPE PAUL VI ON DECEMBER 4, 1963, “… the prayers addressed to God by the priest who presides over the assembly in the person of Christ are said in the name of the entire holy people and of all present. And the visible signs used by the liturgy to signify invisible divine things have been chosen by Christ or the Church. Thus not only when things are read “which were written for our instruction” (Rom. 15:4), but also when the Church prays or sings or acts, the faith of those taking part is nourished and their minds are raised to God, so that they may offer Him their rational service and more abundantly receive His grace.” See http://www.ewtn.com/library/councils/v2litur.htm

If you have a musical talent, can sing or play an instrument and wish to participate in any of the St Frances Cabrini Choirs, contact the music leads noted before or after their respective Masses  or reach Maria Sarmiento at (408) 281-2407 or email mosarmien@yahoo.com.

MCO is Multicultural, Multiethnic Group Serving the Church, Parish and Community

The MCO is a multicultural and multiethnic group whose mission is to serve the church, the parish school and our surrounding community through financial support, educational scholarships and   donations of time and talent. The MCO partners with fellow SFC organizations and sister  churches within the San Jose Diocese to fulfill these goals.

Events include a Crab Feed Dinner & Dance to benefit our high school and college scholarship program, a Zumbathon to benefit the needy in our  community, an annual MCO family picnic and a Virgen the Guadalupe Mass & Reception.  We also participate in parish-sponsored events such as Fiesta, Lenten Soup Nights and SFC Thanksgiving and Christmas food and toy drives.

The MCO is also a spiritual and social organization. Many of our  members have been active for over 30 years and consider each other family.  Members do not have to be of Spanish-speaking or Mexican descent to join. Members do have to be registered Catholics within the San Jose Diocese. Membership dues are $10/year and are due in January.

The MCO meets in the Parish Center on the 1st Tuesday of every month. Meetings are generally two hours long.  During the meetings we review Parish Council updates, plan upcoming events, socialize and pray together.  If you are interested in becoming a member or attending one of our meetings, please call or email Darla Leis at (408) 784-6644 / darlamleis@gmail.com

Thank You St. Frances Cabrini Village House Volunteers

St. Frances Cabrini Parish

The SFC Helping Others 2018 Village House program has come to an end. Without you and our community the housing of our 15 guests would not have been possible.

It took hundreds of volunteers to fill nearly 700 tasks and countless hours of preparation and participation. With your help, the long hours, sleepless and cold nights, transportation, endless laundry, the fabulous food made this program a life changing event.

It’s always wonderful to have a community come together, learn and participate, get to know one another and share smiles and laughs. With your generous donation of time and apostolic actions you became the hands, feet, and the body of Christ.

Thanks for making a difference!

God Bless,
SFC Parish Council and the SFC Village House Core Team
