Blue Star Moms Celebrate 15 Years, Honor SFC Veterans

On Saturday evening, October 26th, in SFC Essig Hall the 6th Annual Pasta Dinner and celebration for Veterans was held. This year was the 15th anniversary of the South Bay Blue Star Moms, CA4 and it was celebrated with founding and current mothers. The highlight of the evening was the awarding of five more “Quilts of Valor” to five deserving Veterans from the South Bay Blue Star Moms “Sewing Stars” chapter. We were fortunate to have the US Marines Jr. ROTC from Del Mar High School kick off with performance with the color guard by Gy Sgt. Mobeley. We honored veterans from all over Silicon Valley. “Quilts of Valor” are handmade and are stitched with love, respect and gratitude. They are presented to active duty and to veterans who have served our country with appreciation that unequivocally says, “Thank you for your service, sacrifice and valor.”

Joe Roulin, US Army was the head chef in Austria serving the Troops during the Korean War in 1951-1953.

Ernie Bayuga, Navy pilot in a combat plane flew missions during the Vietnam era in 1958 to 1962.

Tom Howden, US Air Force flying planes during the Vietnam conflict era.

Carlo Pedron, A Captain in the US Air Force, flying combat missions during the Vietnam era from 1958 to 1963.

Steven Salciccia, US Army during the Vietnam era, Staff Sgt in Artillery.
