Bocce Ball

Family Summer Entertainment.

Eat, play bocce, socialize and more . . . (see pdf)

The SFC Bocce Ball Courts are a perfect place to have a family outing. Unfortunately, this summer due to the past winter’s heavy rains the courts sustained heavy damage and the opening of the courts has been delayed. Repairs are now in the works and as soon as they are completed, the bocce courts will open Thursday evenings for community gatherings. The opening will be announced in the SFC bulletin.

The Italian Catholic Federation (ICF) who oversees the maintenance of the bocce courts hosts the Thursday evening events. Beginning at 6:00 PM each Thursday, attendees are invited to participate in a pot luck dinner. Those who don’t have time to prepare a dish have been known to stop by their local eatery and bring their dinner to eat at the courts. For those who may decide to drop by at the last moment, monetary offerings are welcomed.

After dinner, those who wish to play bocce head for the courts while others continue socializing. Sometimes decks of cards appear and a festive card game ensues. Although there is no fee to come and share a meal, a donation of $5 is requested from all quests who participate in the game of bocce. Even if you have not played bocce before, there is always an experienced player ready to help you learn. The ICF hopes you come by some Thursday evening to experience its hospitality and enjoy the wonderful game of bocce.
