Take Time To Look Back on the 2019 FilAm Easter Egg Hunt

It’s time to take a look back at the 2019 SFC Parish Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Filipino American Group.

The Filipino American Group would like to thank everyone who donated plastic eggs and candy.

We filled up more than 7,000 eggs and made more than 200 kids happy because of your generosity.

Special thanks to our Fil-Am bunnies, the kids and their parents, and of course, Nikki, Sue, Jean, and Fr. Michael for their support.

SFC Parishioners Honored at Saint Pius X Awards Banquet

In early May 2019 the Diocese of San Jose held the 49th annual “Saint Pius the X Awards Banquet” at the Villa Ragusa in Campbell.

Supporting Catechetical Ministry in our own parishes we show our appreciation of our hard working catechists.

These men and women intentionally dedicate their lives to spreading the Gospel to children, youth, young adults, RCIA, music ministry, Sacrament preparation, and much more.

The program consisted of a delicious dinner followed by awards going to many of volunteer catechists within the DSJ Churches that joined in the event this year.
All awards were presented by our new Bishop Oscar Cantu. Bishop Patrick McGrath and many parish priests were in the audience.

Father Gabriel and Joan Schenck joined in the celebration and are very proud to say that the following parishioners were honored:

Grace Triunfante and Lisa Koen both received a five year award for all their work with “The Children’s Liturgy of the Word” program on Sundays at the 9:30 am Mass.

The 25 year award was presented to former professional teacher, Linda Brady, who finds it is a rewarding experience to bring children towards a closer relationship with God. An original Red Barner, making her Sacraments here, Linda enjoys giving back to SFC parish children.

Special recognition for 35 years award was presented to four of our Cabrini volunteer catechists. John and Jennifer Donnelly can be seen and heard weekly at the Saturday
5:00 PM Mass, Sunday 9:30 AM Mass, plus Praise and Worship on First Fridays, Masses for funerals, First Communions, Confirmations, weddings and much more. Together they lead their family in music ministry and with other musicians and singers year after year.

Donna Tkach has taught Baptism Preparation classes for 21 years, followed by teaching RCIA, and currently preparing older children for first communion. Donna also led adult Bible studies for 35 years and still does. She loves informing both children and adults of the wonders of the Catholic Faith.

Margie Schillage, another Red Barner, enjoys teaching her 5th grade students and feels that they have such an innate love for God. She has a wonderful gift of spreading the
Good News to her students and feels a strong connection that manifests after class feeling touched by the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Truly, St. Frances Cabrini has been blessed with these hard working, faith-filled Catholics giving their best to our parish children, teens and adults.

Young Adults Group To Meet, Discuss Christus Vivit This Summer

The St Frances Cabrini Young Adults Group presents a Summer 2019 study program of Pope Francis’ Apostolic Exhortation: Christus Vivit. Join the Young Adults at any or all of the sessions planned.

The Study Group kicks off June 19 and will also gather on June 26, July 10, July 17 and July 24. Sessions begin at 7:00 PM with Evening Prayer followed by Discussion at 7:30 PM and a Social at 8:30 PM. We welcome new members ages 18 to 39.

Pope Francis writes: “With great affection, I address this Apostolic Exhortation to all Christian young people. It is meant to remind you of certain convictions born of our faith, and at the same time to encourage you to grow in holiness and in commitment to your personal vocation. But since it is also part of a synodal process, I am also addressing this message to the entire People of God, pastors and faithful alike, since all of us are challenged and urged to reflect both on the young and for the young. Consequently, I will speak to young people directly in some places, while in others I will propose some more general considerations for the Church’s discernment.

I have let myself be inspired by the wealth of reflections and conversations that emerged from last year’s Synod. I cannot include all those contributions here, but you can read them in the Final Document. In writing this letter, though, I have attempted to summarize those proposals I considered most significant. In this way, my words will echo the myriad voices of believers the world over who made their opinions known to the Synod. Those young people who are not believers, yet wished to share their thoughts, also raised issues that led me to ask new questions.”
